Spinning Yarns is dedicated to increasing the audience for oral storytelling and performance poetry. As such, we oraganise events and have a range of shows of varying lengths that can be toured to both community and event spaces and to festivals. To celebrate the start of National Storytelling Week, Spinning Yarns will be teaming up with Southend Theatres to bring a Festival of Stories to Southend. We have a wonderful group pf regional tellers to spin stories from near and far for all ages throughout the day. No need to book, just pay on the door.

Two storytellers, one musician and a whole host of folk and fairy tales to delight grown ups! Join Hannah Brailsford and Peter Monk as they spin and weave tales old and new from across the land. With the wonderful Isabel Oliver adding beautiful folk songs to the mix.

Drawn from European folk and fairy tale traditions, Hannah Brailsford weaves together an evening of twisted tales and tales with twists that explore what it is to be human and to make your own way in the world.
Accompanied musically by Peter Monk, the stories blend humour and pathos in equal measure.
