"The best teachers are the best story tellers. We learn in the form of stories." Frank Smith

Spinning Yarns will be offering a series of workshops  lead by both storytelling and creative writing professionals. These will be for both beginners and those wishing to deepen their practice.

Finding the best Storyteller in You, is a weekend intermediate storytelling workshop led by master storyteller Paul Jackson, designed to help participants see the richness of their skills and helping them to use them to uncover the best storyteller they can be.

Drawing on a number of tried and tested workshop techniques, Paul will guide participants to visit the landscapes of their story and explore how they see and experience them.

The approaches used will look at the deep tides of wisdom and emotion that live within story and how to access them so that the listener can engage with the teller as they travel the narrative. The workshop will also positively encourage the teller to find and further their individual voice and style.

Paul Jackson is a master storyteller having worked in education and performing as a storyteller for over 25 years. He tells stories from many different cultures and has developed his own very personal style of telling. Sometimes he will make you jump with shock, while at others he will quietly transport you to that 'Elsewhere' of story. He blends music into many of the tales, using the soothing sounds of his African harp, the humour of the mouth harp or sometimes the mystery of the Tibetan singing bowl.
